By utilizing information provided by users, such as the author's name and affiliation, the document's title and publication year, the name, volume, issue, and page numbers of the journal where the paper was published, as well as the conference name, date, and venue, the professional librarians carry out the search for the inclusion and citation of the literature in databases like SCI, EI, CPCI, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), etc. Furthermore, we will issue a retrieval certificate based on the search results.

Sci-tech Novelty Search

The Novelty Search Workshop of HIT is a novelty institution approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in January 2015. The Library of HIT boasts a rich collection of resources and has access to a vast and comprehensive range of online databases. These encompass various professional databases from both home and abroad, including SCI, EI, CPCI, Derwent Innovation (the full - text patent database), ScienceDirect (SD) Database, IEEE Xplore (IEL) Database, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), Wanfang Database, and more. Moreover, we have established an online connection with the Dialog database company in the United States. The database content spans a wide range of professional disciplines, providing a strong resource guarantee for our service work.

This Novelty Search Workstation serves both HIT and other entities. Over the years, it has completed thousands of novelty- searching projects These projects cover a wide range of science and engineering research areas, including power engineering, electronics, computer science, automation, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, environmental science, energy, mechanical engineering, biology, civil engineering, etc. [Note: Medical novelty - searching projects are not accepted.]

Intellectual Property

The Intellectual Property Information Service Center of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) is one of the first 23 university-leveled National Intellectual Property Information Service Centers jointly approved by the Office of the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the General Office of the Ministry of Education. It is also one of the 33 institutions nationwide qualified for national defense patent agency, providing full-process services for the creation, application, protection, and management of intellectual property both on and off campus. In 2021, it was approved as the Patent Navigation Service Base for New Materials and New-Generation Information Technology Industries in Heilongjiang Province.

 Patent Search and Analysis:

For on-campus research teams, we conduct multi-layered patent search and analysis based on patents and scientific/technological literature, covering macro and micro perspectives, research direction planning, technology monitoring, and dynamic tracking.

Patent Agency Services:

We provide comprehensive patent agency services for faculty and students, covering both general patent applications and national defense patent filings. Specifically, we offer free general patent submission services exclusively for our university's faculty and students. A standardized workflow has been established for all stages of the process, including business reception, fee payment, patent drafting, subsequent responses, and official fee submissions.

Intellectual Property (IP) Publicity and Education:

We organize and conduct featured events such as World Intellectual Property Week and Patent Service Month to enhance IP protection awareness among faculty and students. Additionally, we have established a remote education platform for intellectual property—the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) Substation—offering over 20 courses with an average annual enrollment exceeding 3,000 learners.
