走进南头古城，就翻开了深圳最厚重的那一页历史。近一千七百年前，东晋咸和六年，东官郡在此设郡，宝安县治落户南头，这片土地便成为了深圳城市文明的起点；明万历元年，新安县在此建县，管辖范围涵盖今日深圳与香港，南头由此成为名副其实的“深港历史文化之根”。古城之内，青砖黛瓦间藏着说不尽的往事：信国公文氏祠里，文天祥 “人生自古谁无死，留取丹心照汗青”的浩然正气代代相传；东莞会馆中，岭南商贾往来云集的繁华依稀可辨；古城墙与护城河遗址，仍在无声诉说着这座岭南海防重镇的金戈铁马；报德祠、观音阁、南城门，一砖一瓦都刻着岁月的包浆。千百年来，南头古城见证了王朝更迭、海防硝烟、商贸兴衰，也经历了近代以来的沧桑巨变，它曾在战火中受损，曾在城市化浪潮中被握手楼层层包裹，却始终如一位沉默的老者，守着深圳的文化根脉。如今，经过活化更新的南头古城重焕生机，老建筑里长出了美术馆、设计店和咖啡馆，千年文脉与当代创意在此碰撞共生，成为一座 “活态的古城”。本周，我们用英语为来自世界各地的朋友讲述南头的故事，从东官郡的第一缕炊烟，到新安故城的市井烟火，从文天祥的家国情怀，到今日古城的青春活力。我们邀请你踏上南头的青石板路，在文氏祠前用英语朗诵一首《正气歌》，在古城墙下聊聊你心中的历史与传承，在新旧交融的街巷里感受一座城的前世今生。历史不只是尘封的往事，它活在每一块砖、每一条街、每一个愿意讲述它的人心里。来南头古城，和我们一起，用英语让千年历史被世界听见。
To step into Nantou Ancient City is to open the most profound chapter of Shenzhen's history. Nearly 1,700 years ago, in the sixth year of the Xianhe reign of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the Dongguan Prefecture was established here, with the county seat of Bao'an located in Nantou, making this land the very cradle of Shenzhen's urban civilization. In the first year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, Xin'an County was founded here, governing the territory that includes today's Shenzhen and Hong Kong, earning Nantou its well-deserved title as the root of Shenzhen and Hong Kong's history and culture. Within the city walls, grey bricks and tiled eaves hold countless stories: at the Wen Family Shrine, the noble spirit of Wen Tianxiang, Since ancient times, who has not died? Let my heart shine in the annals of history, has been passed down through generations; at the Dongguan Guild Hall, the bustling prosperity of Lingnan merchants lingers in the air; the remnants of the ancient city wall and moat still whisper of this coastal stronghold's martial past; and the Baode Temple, Guanyin Pavilion, and South Gate bear the patina of centuries in every brick and tile. For millennia, Nantou Ancient City has witnessed dynastic changes, coastal defense battles, and the rise and fall of commerce, as well as the dramatic transformations of modern times. Damaged by war, enveloped by crowded urban buildings during the wave of urbanization, yet it has always stood like a silent elder guarding Shenzhen's cultural roots. Today, after careful revitalization, Nantou Ancient City breathes with new life: art galleries, design shops, and cafés have taken root in heritage buildings, where a thousand-year cultural legacy meets contemporary creativity, making it a living ancient city. This week, we use English to tell Nantou's story to friends from around the world, from the first wisps of cooking smoke in Dongguan Prefecture, to the daily bustle of ancient Xin'an, from Wen Tianxiang's patriotic devotion, to the youthful vitality of the city today. We invite you to walk Nantou's stone-paved lanes, recite *Song of Righteousness* in English before the Wen Shrine, discuss history and heritage beneath the ancient city wall, and feel a city's past and present in streets where old and new converge. History is not merely dust-covered memories, it lives in every brick, every street, and every heart willing to tell its story. 口语英语角专为中外学生共同交流设计，在轻松氛围里自信开口、互相学习，用双语讲出中国故事，让文化成为最好的沟通桥梁。鼓励大胆开口，练习英语口语的同时，纠正发音与语法，说出更地道的英语或中文，主题清晰、表达简单、中外互助对话，双向提升语言能力，拓展国际视野。

This English corner is built for Chinese and international students. In a relaxed vibe, you'll speak with confidence, learn from one another, and share Chinese stories, turning culture into a bridge for communication. We encourage you to speak up, practice your spoken English, improve your pronunciation and grammar, and also help international students to get to know more about Chinese. With clear topics, simple expressions, and peer support across cultures, you'll grow your language skills in both directions, and broaden your global perspective as well.
If you want to go deeper into the stories behind traditional Chinese culture,are willing to talk in English about the flavors of your hometown or the tastes of your childhood,or are simply a little curious, a little shy, but ready to take one small step forward, then this English corner is for you. We don't chase perfect pronunciation. We just encourage brave voices. Every time you share, it's a fresh start toward something better.
